Mega is among the tens of thousands who lost everything they owned to the devastating earthquake and tsunami that hit their community in Palu in Sulawesi, Indonesia.

"I came to my father's house trying to salvage things that we might be able to use in our temporary shelter. Feeling so sad seeing the house that I grew in is destroyed," she lamented, clinging to the only thing that was left: a mat.

Despite her loss, Mega is thankful that her father and her family are alive.

In this critical hour, Mega and the several thousands more who have been displaced are in urgent need of emergency shelter and humanitarian support. With houses destroyed and aftershocks continuing, thousands of families are struggling to survive with nowhere to live.

As you read this, UNHCR is mobilizing to airlift tents and are at hand to support the most vulnerable families. But we need your support to reach them all, including unaccompanied children, the elderly, and persons with disabilities.

The earthquake and tsunami happened while disaster operations are still ongoing in Lombok where, after a series of earthquakes, over 340,000 people are still staying in camps. Without your help, we will not be able to help all of these vulnerable families. Please donate to help us meet their most urgent needs.
