The climate crisis is driving displacement and makes life harder for those already forced to flee. We must act now.
UNHCR is supporting the government-led humanitarian response after Typhoon Odette wreaked havoc in the Caraga Region in Mindanao. UNHCR is providing core relief items composed of solar lamps, mosquito nets, plastic sheets with eyelets, and reinforced plastic tarpaulins. These items are intended to serve the severely affected islands in Siargao and Dinagat as well as the coastal municipalities in the mainland of Surigao del Norte province.
Climate change, conflict, poverty, food insecurity, and displacement are increasingly overlapping, driving more people to search for safety and security, and multiplying vulnerabilities and threats.
This 2022, we are counting on your support to help families and communities at risk of climate emergencies.
A monthly gift from you can save lives and help the most vulnerable in mitigating the effects of climate change. Your contribution will protect them from climate emergencies and keep them safe from the elements, as well as help their long-term recovery by ensuring access to disaster preparedness and sustainable livelihoods.
