Thousands of Rohingya refugee families have fled to Bangladesh to escape violence. They are in need of emergency shelter and life-saving assistance.

Over 680,000 Rohingya refugees, were forced to flee violence and persecution in Myanmar since August 2017. Already crowded, UNHCR’s refugee camps in Bangladesh were the destiny of tens of thousands new arrivals, pushing them to expansion to meet the new needs for shelter.

UNHCR’s shelter program, which began first to provide emergency shelters to new arrivals, is now entering another level. Ahead of monsoon rains and cold, the refugee camps are highly vulnerable to landslides and flash floods.

We are racing against time as a new major emergency looms for tens of thousands of Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh.

UNHCR has already taken a number of steps to better protect them. These include providing families with upgraded shelter kits, including biodegradable sandbags to help to anchor the structures, which are sturdier and can better protect them in heavy rains.

This shelter support are part of the life-saving aid that UNHCR is providing to Rohingya refugees, including food, water, healthcare, education, and psychosocial support.

Due to the shortfall of funding, we urgently need your support to be able to respond to the aggravating needs of the most vulnerable families.

Your donation can alleviate the sufferings of thousands.

Over 680,000 Rohingya children, women and men have been forced to flee to Bangladesh escaping violence in Myanmar since August 2017. They have arrived exhausted, hungry, and sick after walking for days from their villages through jungles, across mountains and rivers carrying what little they could bring from home.

Aid delivery is well underway, however there is an urgent need for more emergency shelters and core relief items as more refugees arrive and as the monsoon rains loom.

Please make a donation of at least PHP 3000 today.

Your donation will be pooled together with other donations received to provide emergency shelter and kits containing core relief items which include: plastic tarpaulins, kitchen sets, blankets, jerry cans, mosquito nets, sleeping mats, buckets and solar lanterns.
